London Stock Exchange |
London Stock Exchange is regarded as one of the Major Stock Markets of UK. Over the last few decades the functioning of London Stock Exchange has greatly influenced the industrial and business sector of Europe. Because of its unmatched credibility, many overseas companies have been listed under the variable account of this Stock Market. A look at the history of London Stock Exchange indicates that the necessity of trade shares in London began with the need to finance two voyages: The Muscovy Company's effort to reach China via the White Sea north of Russia, and the East India Company ocean trip to India and the Far East. During that time, these companies were unable to finance their journeys privately, so the companies raised the money by selling shares to merchants, while giving them a portion of any profits eventually made.
London Stock Exchange started in the year 1695 with 140 companies listed under the stock exchange, till then Change Alley was well popular. The earlier Stock Exchange Tower, was based in Threadneedle Street/Old Broad Street which was inaugurated by
Queen Elizabeth II in 1972 and housed under the Trading Floor where traders would meet to conduct business.
This effort suffered a setback with the advent of the Big Bang on 27 October 1986, which freed many of the Stock Exchange's activities. It also annihilated fixed commissions on the otherwise security trades and allowed security firms to act as brokers and dealers.
With this effort there was an increased usage of computerized systems that allowed transaction rooms to carry out their work at a faster rate. It is also one of the most significant Stock Exchange in London with ten fold increase in trading operations. One of the major aspects of London Stock Exchange is to compete at the international level for wide financial transaction services.
