Egyptian Stock Exchanges

Egyptian Stock Exchanges comprises of two stock exchanges- Cairo Exchange as well as Alexandria Exchange. Both of these Egyptian Stock Exchanges are governed by one particular board of directors. The official establishment of Cairo Exchange dates back to the year of 1888 while that of Alexandria dates back to the year of 1903.

The Stock Market of Egypt revived again in the 1990s following the the reform program of the government of Egypt.



A new board of directors was elected to direct the Stock Exchanges in Egypt in the year of 1997. A number of new board committees were formed. These revolutionary incidents brought about drastic but positive changes in the Egyptian Stock Exchanges. Under the Chairmanship of Sherif Raafat it was decided that the Egyptian Stock Exchanges would be modernized. Steps that were taken as a part of the process of modernization, include proper planning for the sake of efficient clearing, due settlement and transparent payment systems. Importance was also imposed on the development of the rules regarding membership and trading. As a Stock Market Egyptian Stock Exchanges are still among the toppers.
