The Toronto Stock Exchange is one of the Major Stock Markets of the World. It is often thought to be a descendant of the Association of Brokers that was a group that consisted of the businessmen of Toronto. The Toronto Stock Exchange is thought to have been formed on 26th July in the year of 1852. It is quite unfortunate that no official records of the transactions of the groups have been traced. The Toronto Stock Exchange was officially created on the 25th of October In the Masonic Hall where twenty four people gathered to form it. It was finally incorporated in the year of 1878. in the world of Stock Exchange, The Toronto Stock Exchange is now a renowned name.

The Toronto Stock Exchange started growing continuously expanding both of its size as well as trade shares. The halt came when it remained shut down three months in the year of 1914 due to financial panic caused by the First World War. The Toronto Stock Exchange merged with the Standard Stock and Mining Exchange that was its principal competitor. The combined exchanges took the resolution to be known as Toronto Stock Exchange.





In the year of 1999 Barbara G. Stymiest was announced to be the President as well as the Chief Executive Officer. She happened to be the first female president of a Stock Market in North America.

The Toronto Stock Exchange became the only exchange in Canada, with which the senior equities traded. The Toronto Stock Exchange turned to be a for- profit company in the year of 2000 while it gained the Canadian Venture Exchange in the year of 2001. The Toronto Stock Exchange revealed a trade above the level of 14000 points for the first time in the course of its career on 11th May of the year of 2007.
